In honor of International Fruit Day on July 1, our team visited with Layne Wade, Technical Service Manager at Grow West. Layne is familiar with a variety of fruit crops since Grow West is stationed in California — the state responsible for nearly 70 percent of U.S. fruit and vegetable production.

Begin your season with the end in mind says UPL Territory Sales Manager Andrew Easton as he reflects on 2022 and considers the year ahead.
“Think about the last time you had spring wheat in those fields,” Easton says. “Be thinking at the same time what you're going to be utilizing for an herbicide program, because so much of what we face with production issues and spring wheat really comes down to weeds primarily, and disease.”

First discovered in the United States more than 200 years ago, codling moths (Cydia pomonella L.) can be found in every state where apples are grown. The wormy terror is an apple grower’s arch nemesis as the most devastating pest to pome fruit crops. If left unchecked, codling moths can cause 80 to 100 percent damage in an orchard.

In 2022, growers saw the third-largest Canadian wheat harvest on record. And according to projections, 2023 will be another high-yielding year for wheat in Canada.
