Who's gearing up to watch the AFC Championship game today? I've got my lucky red on and I'm rooting for the Chiefs – as most Kansas and Missourians I know are 🏈 .
Speaking of football, this morning I came across M&M's latest campaign that I had to pass along for my fellow creatives who haven't seen the news. M&Ms is celebrating NFL Hall of Famers who missed out on winning the Super Bowl rings, with an overall message of celebrating athletes of all types whether they win or lose.
What an innovative way to remind folks that one game, one project, one situation doesn't define your greatness. The recipients of the M&M Almost Champions Ring of Comfort – Dan Marino, Terrell Owens and Bruce Smith – had amazing careers after all. (If you haven't seen the rings or the ad, it's totally worth the click on the link below.)
I'm also tying this campaign into today's #BreakThroughYear advice to keep in mind as you long to strengthen your company/business/non-profit: It's important to give a shoutout to your entire team for the awesome work they do all year round. This recognition can show up in the form of an annual appreciation dinner, a fun team bonding event, an employee recognition and rewards system, etc.
When we acknowledge and celebrate team efforts, it's not just about saying thanks – it's about showing everyone involved that we see and appreciate everything they bring to the table. Plus, it's a great reminder that every little bit counts, whether things go exactly as planned or not. This kind of recognition creates a vibe where everyone feels valued and motivated to keep giving their best. It's like fuel for strong teamwork, new ideas and a sense of belonging.
Interested in strategizing ways you can recognize your team members, volunteers or even clients who have provided you with testimonials in the past? Let's map out some ideas! I'm one email or LinkedIn message away.
